Perseverance rover finds evidence that suggests ancient microbial life might have existed on Mars
·1 min
The NASA Perseverance rover has potentially discovered geological evidence on Mars that could indicate the existence of ancient life. The rover found a red rock filled with veins that appears to have leopard-like spots. These spots resemble features associated with the fossilized record of microbes on Earth. The rock also contains white calcium sulfate veins that indicate the presence of water, as well as organic carbon-based molecules and iron and phosphate. The presence of hematite and olivine in the rock further adds to its complexity. Scientists are eager to study this rock to unlock Mars’ past.
