Eating Ultraprocessed Foods Linked to Increased Risk of Death, Study Finds #

A recent 30-year study suggests a correlation between the consumption of ultraprocessed foods and an early risk of death. The study analyzed data from over 100,000 health professionals without a history of major health conditions. Participants completed detailed food questionnaires every four years, revealing that those who consumed the most ultraprocessed foods had a 4% higher risk of death from any cause. The increased risk was particularly evident in neurodegenerative deaths. The study also highlighted the varying impacts of different types of ultraprocessed foods. While cereals and whole grain breads contain beneficial nutrients, foods like processed meat and sugary beverages should be limited or avoided. Overall, maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is recommended for reducing the risk of death.
