The US Department of Health And Human Services Secretary and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator reminded hospitals of their duty to provide medical care to all patients. The letters came after the dismissal of an appeal over Idaho’s abortion ban, which led some hospitals to transfer pregnant patients out of state. The administration argues that the ban violates a federal law that requires hospitals to provide stabilizing medical care to all patients.
